M-19 Flying Squirrel Construction Photos:

I have started on a new M-19 to replace the prototype. I will post my building progress here on the site.

I have finished most of the metal pieces required for the new plane. I used some modern technology to help things along. I drew the parts up in full scale on a CAD program and saved them in .DXF format. Next I arranged them in cutting order and sent the file to a Mitsubishi laser cutter.

I bent the landing gear brackets on a metal brake and welded the tabs with a TIG welder. As you can see from the photo they didn't turn out too shabby. I ran them through a glass bead sand blaster. A quick wipe down with some acetone and a good coat of primer and paint will finish them off. The next step is to finish the bent tabs on the control horns, bend the other required pieces and finish the rest with primer and paint.
